In 1995, Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Simple Abundance was published. It was a book of daily meditations that described her journey to wholeness by applying the six principles of Gratitude, Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty and Joy to her life. Sarah has trained women across the country to lead experiential retreats called “Simple Abundance Close to Home” expanding on these same principles to aid each of us in our journeys to wholeness.
Jody Brown, Suzuki piano instructor, Discovery Toys educational consultant, Reiki practitioner, Meditation instructor, and Certified Health Coach, completed Sarah's training and is now a Simple Abundance Certified Leader. Jody leads retreats in the CNY & Rochester areas.
At the retreats, we discuss each of the six principles. Our journeys to wholeness are shared experiences which includes exercises to reach all of our learning styles – auditory, visual, and kinesthetic, as well as creating a sense of bonding and sisterhood.
The Six Principles
Gratitude - At the heart of Simple Abundance is an authentic awakening, one that resonates within your soul: all you have is all you need to be genuinely happy. All you need is the awareness of how much you really have. Now give thanks.
Simplicity - The simpler we make our lives, the more abundant they become. There is no scarcity except in our souls.
Order - Lasting change does not happen overnight. True change happens in a day, an hour, a minute, a heartbeat at a time.
Harmony - The inner cadence of contentment you feel when the melody of life is in tune.
Beauty - Creating a beautiful life is your highest calling. It is the ordinary and overlooked details of the every day that beauty is revealed, sustained and nurtured.
Joy - Your happiness is not a frivolous, expendable luxury. Joy is your soul's purpose. Now here's a reason to be grateful!
